It is insoluble in water, but miscible with oils.
It is present in many essential oils such as citronella, neroli, cyclamen, lemon grass, tuberose, rose, musk, balsam and tolu. It is used in perfumery to emphasize the odors of sweet floral perfumes.
Farnesol is also a natural pesticide for mites and is a pheromone for several other insects.
In a 1994 report released by five top cigarette companies, farnesol was listed as one of 599 additives to cigarettes. It is a flavoring ingredient. | | | | <a href="PDF/P_InfoEn/F-004.pdf" Target="_blank">English</a> | <a href="PDF/P_InfoFr/F-004.pdf" Target="_blank">French</a> | <a href="PDF/P_InfoSp/F-004.pdf" Target="_blank">Spanish</a> | <a href="PDF/MSDS/F-004.pdf" Target="_blank">SDS</a> | <a href="SeriesTestForms.aspx">Current Year</a> | <a href="SeriesTestFormsPrev.aspx">Previous Year</a> | | | | | Framycetin sulfate/(Neomycin B) | | | | | <img src="../IMAGES/pet.gif"/> | D-Streptamine, O-2,6-diamino-2,6-dideoxy-.beta.-L-idopyranosyl-(1.->3)-O-.beta.-D-ribofuranosyl-(1->5)]-O-[2,6-diamino-2,6-dideoxy-.alpha.-D-glucopyranosyl-(1->4)]-2-deoxy.
Neomycin B,Framycetin,
Soframycin,NSC156885 (SULFATE) | Framycetin, a broad spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic, is usually bactericidal in action.
For local use in the treatment of infections caused by pyogenic organisms, in particular S. aureus, the proteus group of bacteria, coliforms and P. aeruginosa.
Ointment: The treatment of bacterial infections of the skin and mucous membrane caused by susceptible bacteria. These include such conditions as pyoderma, folliculitis, paronychia, sycosis barbae, and impetigo. Also useful in controlling secondary bacterial infections in skin carcinoma, burns, eczemas, contact dermatitis, seborrhea, acne, psoriasis, varicose ulcers, and neurodermatitis.
Ophthalmic Drops and Ointment: Treatment of bacterial blepharitis, conjunctivitis, styes, corneal abrasions and burns; prophylactically following removal of foreign bodies; corneal ulcers (sole treatment or as an adjunct to subconjunctival injection of framycetin). | | | | <a href="PDF/P_InfoEn/F-005.pdf" Target="_blank">English</a> | <a href="PDF/P_InfoFr/F-005.pdf" Target="_blank">French</a> | <a href="PDF/P_InfoSp/F-005.pdf" Target="_blank">Spanish</a> | <a href="PDF/MSDS/F-005.pdf" Target="_blank">SDS</a> | <a href="SeriesTestForms.aspx">Current Year</a> | <a href="SeriesTestFormsPrev.aspx">Previous Year</a> | |
